Nursery

baby.jpgThe Little Blessings Nursery is available for parents and children anytime. There are many toys, games, and books for children to enjoy while they spend time in the nursery. Although we do not offer a structured class time for children under the age of 3, we keep church lessons and activities in a hanging cupboard in the nursery. You are encouraged to use these materials with your children.

The nursery is staffed for the 10:30 am service on Sunday mornings throughout the school year. If you are utilizing the nursery when it is not staffed, a parent or guardian must accompany their child.

Church School

INFORMATION ON THE CHURCH SCHOOL PROGRAM:

Sparkhouse (Augsburg Fortress) creates the lessons we use in church school and provides an online system that allows us to better communicate with you and with Church School teachers. Once you are registered, you are able to view your child's scheduled events online and receive email notifications of upcoming church events. Click here to access Spark Online

The Whirl curriculum is utilized for pre-school through 4th grade. It is lectionary-based, therefore the stories the children learn in Church School will be the same stories that are read in worship that week. All generations will have heard and learned the same biblical stories when they leave the church each week.

The Connect curriculum is utilized for 5th and 6th graders. Connect takes these children on a journey through the Old Testament and New Testament, exploring the connections between several stories each week. It engages preteens in God's big story through videos, Bible exploration, and hands-on projects.

If you would like to know more about Whirl or Connect, please visit   www.activatefaith.org.

Children are also encouraged to attend Milestone Ministry classes scheduled throughout the year along with a parent or guardian. These classes are fun and interactive and concentrate on a specific topic. Classes for each age group typically meet twice during the year.

There are many opportunities to assist with Church school and other events! We invite you to visit Serving Opportunities for a list and description.

Godly Play*

godly play   This year we hope to introduce Godly Play to our Wednesday nights of faith formation.

Godly Play is a creative, imaginative approach to Christian formation and spiritual

guidance. Through the act of intentional story telling and play, students will engage in the

stories of scripture deeper than they ever have before.

*As of this time, Godly Play is not ready to launch. We will keep you updated when this will be added to the schedule! If you are interested in helping in this area, review the "Godly Play Practioner" description below, and contact Pastor Joe Natwick if you are interested!

Godly Play Practitioner ~

Maybe you want to be a part of something brand new at St John! Pastor Joe is seeking a group of people who want to be trained as Godly Play storytellers. Godly Play is an incredible way of sharing God's stories through intentional storytelling and elements of play. Becoming a Godly Play storyteller involves official training from a Godly Play expert. Not only would you learn invaluable instructional skills, you would also be part of shaping a new ministry at St John!
